Annie Brook has practiced and taught Contact Improvisation for over 40 years. She is a playful and skilled guide who is passionate about sharing the tools that help people heal and thrive.

Annie will share  Living Anatomy using developmental movement, educative touch, play, and Contact improvisation. Annie is a certified Body-Mind Centering teacher,  somatic psychotherapist (4 decades of experience), and founder of The Brook Institute, where she trains therapists and offers online classes. Her training program is certified through ISMETA (International Movement Education Therapy Association), and is now available in Russian and Spanish translation. Annie has presented at conferences and retreats all over the world. 

 Robert is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (University of Colorado Anschutz Medical campus) and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Robert follows the latest research advances first-hand, and has published his own case studies and integrative summaries of the benefits of physical activity in a wide variety of contexts.  Robert completed his Residency in Orthopedics (Regis University) and has over ten years of teaching experience teaching yoga and movement at Ape Co Movement School. He is interested in working with active populations and his workshops transform traditional human-anatomy lectures into a fun, hands-on way to discover how the human body works. In his free time, Robert likes to cook, bake, and spend time with family and friends. He also loves to engage in all kinds of physical activity, especially hand balancing, acrobatics, and hiking.

 For the past five years, Amitai has dedicated himself lovingly to maintaining a movement practice that spans many themes and areas of practice. This is informed by technique and an appreciation for the complexity, depth, and interconnectivity to be found in all matters of life.

Amitai believes that movement can reflect back to us many aspects of who we are and serve as a vehicle that facilitates growth, healing, and nourishment, among many other amazing things.

Amitai has studied from dedicated teachers of movement in many different countries, each providing him with guidance and inspiration. As a student of movement, Amitai finds nourishment, playfulness, and connection with those he moves with, all while inviting more awareness and freedom to express through the body. As a teacher, Amitai aims to facilitate the very same things by holding a warm, playful, and non-judgmental space for students to explore their own movement.

David  has been teaching for 10+ years, and is committed to improving people’s quality of life through the practice of movement, mobility, dance/play therapy, and functional neurology in a trauma-informed way that is inclusive and accessible to all bodies.  

David has studied extensively with Movement Culture and numerous movement/dance modalities-loves contact improvisation, freeform dance/authentic movement, qi gong, circus arts, Gaga, shadow yoga, Continuum, and weaving somatics, nervous system education, and wisdom traditions into movement practice.

Jacob is a generalist movement practitioner with a deep fascination in the creative bounds of the present moment. His current mission is to create a singular practice that combines the efforts of personal training and somatic psychotherapy in the direction of healing. Spending the last 4 years studying movement in the realm of Movement Culture, he has expanded his practice with the model of "isolate, integrate, improvise," popularized by Ido Portal, and recently has felt the most freedom in the expression of improvisation. Jacob has a background in team athletics and extreme sports such as BMX biking, skateboarding, and high level, competitive snowboarding. This experience allowed him to develop a deep connection between proprioception, vestibular awareness, and community resourcing. Jacob  knows how to improvise between strength, flexibility, speed, and fear when trying new things. You will be playfully challenged to grow and try new things at a pace that works for you. 

Damian has transformed his own life using body-mind Brook Institute tools, visceral manipulation, and contact improv. Damian blends his love of movement and nature, and guides nature movement retreats. He overcame social anxiety and the awkwardness that is sometimes attributed to Aspergers  syndrome. A stutterer as a child, Damian knows what it takes to grow beyond personal challenges and has dedicated his life to community ideals and philosophy. Damian is a movement educator and personal counselor and works with the Brook Institute. 

Andrea is an MA level somatic movement therapist trained from Naropa, and has specialized in helping children with disabilities to move and enjoy their bodies. A busy momma, Andrea has balanced her career, a family-owned business in Longmont, and her own passion for integrated learning. She is committed to the deep healing work and helping others to  find new pathways towards integrated emotions, body, and mind. She works as a counselor within the Brook Institute and her own private therapy practice. Andrea understands the importance of integrated body and emotions and brings this support to others.
